Aautobiographies are believed to be based on the author’s real life experiences. But is it really so? Are they honest in telling us the truth? And is it possible that the authors remember, in detail, many of their life experiences? Memory is selective, and based in part on one’s perception. All these raise the question, what is fact and what is fiction in an author’s autobiography… A similar question might arise about fiction, when there often is an uncertainty about what in the novel (or story) is fiction, and what is based on the author’s autobiographical elements. But does it make any difference?
